The Space Cookies not only build robots, but they also seek to share their passion for technology throughout the community. Team 1868 spreads the messages of FIRST and the Girl Scouts at over 20 events annually.
The team helps mentor and host FIRST LEGO League(FLL) tournaments. FLL is a tournament for fifth to eighth graders. Their goal is to build Lego based robots to compete in the challenge given that year. The team that is mentored by our team is called "Golden Surfers". The team hosts the FLL tournaments every fall. In every tournament, about 20 teams in Bay Area participate.
In addition to helping our community through traditional volunteer service, the Space Cookies help the community by volunteering at festivals and performing robot demonstrations. The Space Cookies participate in many events hosted by NASA, the Girl Scouts and other sponsors. Some events include: Girl Scout Golden Gate Bridging, BAE Toys for Tots, Great America Physics Day, Maker Faire, BAE Motorfest, Girl Scout Destinations, and BAE Zero One.
