Other Outreach

In addition to helping our community through traditional volunteer service, the Space Cookies help the community by volunteering at festivals and performing robot demonstrations. The Space Cookies participate in many events hosted by NASA, the Girl Scouts and other sponsors.

GET Workshop

In 2009, the Space Cookies created the inaugural GET (Girls Engineering Tomorrow) workshop to introduce young girls to the world of science and technology. The GET event teaches fourth and fifth grade girls about 10 different engineering disciplines through hands-on activities. This event is a innovative way to encourage girls to join the technology workforce, and pursue technological careers.

Demonstrations

  • BAE Toys for Tots: Every year, the team volunteers at Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is a program where donated toys are distributed to the underprivileged. Not only does the team help with the distribution, the team also demonstrates the robot we made in front of the kids. The kids are also welcome to drive our robot under certain supervision.
  • BAE Motorfest
  • Maker Faire
  • Bay Area Science Festival
  • Girl Scout Golden Gate Bridging: Our largest audience for all demonstrations. There are around 8000 girls that watch our performance.
  • Great America Physics Day
  • BAE Zero One
  • Girl Scout Destinations
